POSITION SUMMARY:
Under broad supervision, the Plumbing Supervisor supervises the installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems. Oversees and manages plumbing related projects at a federal installation. Employees in this job class make decisions necessary to ensure continued base operations. This job class requires comprehensive knowledge of plumbing methodologies; federal and state codes, laws and regulations and the ability to organize, budget, and manage multiple projects.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Directs and supervises skilled plumbing work in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems. Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of plumbing expenditures and procedures for plumbing systems maintenance.
2. *Estimates material and labor.
3. *Ensures budgetary guidelines are met; prioritizes expenditures to stay within budget and assists in the preparation of capital and operations budgets.
4. *Schedules and prioritizes tasks, and ensures adherence to procedures, regulations and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
5. *Manages governmental compliance program and develops compliance reports.
6. *Acts as a technical resource to field personnel and actively engages in field issues.
7. *Reviews work in progress and completed to ensure that work is performed according to instructions.
8. *Participates in a variety of departmental and other meetings on a regular basis.
9. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Three or more years of experience in the plumbing trade including one year of supervisory experience;
• Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to the trade;
• Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes;
• Knowledge of the mechanics of operation of equipment such as pumps, boilers, heaters and other plumbing components;
• Skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of plumbing systems;
• Skill in estimating time and materials common to the trade;
• Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately;
• Ability to effectively supervise and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules;
• Effective oral and written communication skills using appropriate business English;
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, common sense and problem solving skills;
• Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and customers;
• Effective customer service skills;
• Intermediate computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
• Knowledge of business English including vocabulary and spelling;
• Fundamental mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division;
• Ability to establish priorities and solve operational problems;
• Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
Technical/other training
CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:
The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements.
Backflow Prevent & Test
Fed Security Clearance
State Plumbing License
Valid Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
• Maneuvering to and around equipment
• Bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching
• Climbing stepstools or ladders
• Lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
