POSITION SUMMARY: 
Under minimal supervision, the Distribution and Inventory Manager oversees and manages work site logistics, warehouse, self-help and work site asset inventory.  Employees in this job class develop and manage their respective budgets, set goals and objectives for staff, performance manage subordinates and make decisions to improve program performance based on performance indicators.  This job class requires comprehensive knowledge of effective management techniques, warehouse management, negotiation strategies, production center operations, customer service, and inventory control systems.

 

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Coordinates, directs and manages the timely and effective delivery of supplies, materials, equipment, subcontracts, information technology services, production reports and accountability.
2. *Manages compliance with contract terms, conditions and obligations. 
3. *Supervises staff; ensures a competent, motivated staff through hiring, training, counseling, supervising and reviewing the performance of employees.
4. *Develops professional working relationship with key contract personnel and establishes official lines of communication.
5. *Manages accounts payable through invoice tracking and resolves invoice miss matches as identified by customer.
6. *Manages the Self-Help and U-Do-It functions by ensuring needed materials are available and their issuance tracked.  Provides resources to train customers on both programs.
7. *Manages the warehouse by overseeing warehouse operations, development and implementation of inventory management programs, staffing and supervising warehouse staff, and by negotiating pricing and tracking of high use materials.
8. *Manages material procurement process, which includes receiving customer requests for services, develop material requirement for project execution, and manage acquisition of materials including price negotiations.  Responsible for managing site supplier database and related cost of services.
9. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Five or more years of experience in distribution, inventory management, logistics and warehouse management, including at least three years in a supervisory role;
• Fundamental understanding of inventory principles and practices;
• Knowledge of warehousing and inventory management systems;
• Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately;
• Ability to effectively supervise and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules;
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by senior management, customers and/or employees;
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills;
• Exceptional customer service skills;
• Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team, customers and public;
• Advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
• Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;
• Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations;
• Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business, operational and strategic management problems;
• Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors in Business Administration or related field

A comparable combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.

 

 

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:

The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:

 

Fed Security Clearance

Valid Driver's License

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

 

• Maneuvering in and around the warehouse
• Bending and stooping
• Lifting and moving boxes weighing up to 35 pounds
• Pulling or pushing up to 75 pounds
• May require using a pallet jack
• Climbing on and off material handling equipment 
• Viewing Computer screen 
• Utilizing keyboard

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a business office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise and in a distribution environment with forklifts, material handling and production equipment and depending on external weather conditions, exposure to heat, cold, wind and rain.  Travel between worksites is required.
