POSITION SUMMARY:
Under broad supervision, the HVAC Supervisor supervises the installation, repair, overhaul and maintenance of HVAC/refrigeration systems. Oversees and manages HVAC related projects at a federal installation. Employees in this job class make decisions necessary to ensure continued base operations. This job class requires comprehensive knowledge of federal and state codes, laws and regulations regarding HVAC repair and maintenance including environmental and indoor air quality and the ability to organize, budget, and manage multiple projects.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Directs and supervises skilled HVAC work.
2. *Schedules and prioritizes tasks, and ensures adherence to procedures, regulations and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
3. *Supervises staff; ensures a competent, motivated staff through hiring, training, counseling, supervising and reviewing the performance of employees.
4. *Manages federal compliance program and develops compliance reports.
5. *Makes material and labor estimates.
6. *Acts as a technical resource to field personnel and actively engages in field issues.
7. *Prepares sketches of proposed work and assists in the design and specifications of planned jobs or contracts.
8. *Reviews work in progress and completed to ensure that work is performed according to instructions.
9. *Participates in a variety of departmental and other meetings on a regular basis.
11. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Three of more years of experience in HVAC/refrigeration equipment installation, repair and maintenance experience including at least one year in a supervisory role;
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC/refrigeration equipment;
• Skill in estimating time and materials;
• Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations regarding HVAC repair and maintenance for occupied spaces;
• Knowledge of ISO 9000;
• Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately;
• Ability to effectively supervise and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules;
• Effective oral and written communication skills using appropriate business English;
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, common sense and problem solving skills;
• Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and customers;
• Effective customer service skills;
• Intermediate computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
• Knowledge of business English including vocabulary and spelling;
• Fundamental mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division;
• Ability to establish priorities and solve operational problems;
• Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
• Maneuvering to, in, and around equipment
• Bending, kneeling, stooping and reaching
• Climbing stepstools or ladders.
• Lifting and moving heavy equipment up to 35 pounds
• Climbing ladders to gain access to rooftop equipment
• Monitoring computer systems and control displays
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
