POSITION SUMMARY:   

Under minimal supervision, the IT Senior Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for one or more key functions within the Information Technology (IT) department. Employees in this job class are responsible for ensuring that IT initiatives are guided by clear objectives, prioritized appropriately, and delivered within defined timelines, budgets, and resource constraints. This job class requires expertise in expense budgeting and forecasting, project and portfolio management, enterprise systems and business processes, and the ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:  

1. *Plans, organizes, and directs IT functions to meet budgetary, quality, and production goals aligned with corporate objectives.
2. *Develops and executes IT strategies, including priorities, standards, protocols, and change management.
3. *Supervises and develops staff through hiring, training, performance management, and career development.
4. *Directs project and program delivery, including planning, tracking, and reviewing project status.
5. *Provides technical leadership and enforces IT policies, procedures, and quality standards.
6. *Establishes documentation standards for system modifications, upgrades, and project deliverables.
7. *Determines resource needs and manages IT capital acquisition and budgeting.
8. *Collaborates with executive leadership to forecast needs, develop budgets, and negotiate with vendors.
9. *Leads research and development of new technologies and evaluates their application to business operations.
10. *Maintains awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends, introducing innovations as appropriate.
11. *Ensures compliance with relevant frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, cybersecurity, disaster recovery).
12. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
 
Business Systems
1. *Oversees the design, development, implementation, and support of business applications and ERP systems.
2. *Guides internal stakeholders in identifying system requirements and recommends technical solutions.
3. *Leads application lifecycle management and ensures alignment with business processes and goals.
4. *Directs telephone system planning and enterprise-wide upgrades.
 
Technology Engineering
1. *Leads systems engineering, infrastructure, and technology operations, including networking, storage, and cloud services.
2. *Directs implementation of cybersecurity and information security programs, ensuring compliance with NIST 800.
3. *Oversees disaster recovery planning and infrastructure resilience.
4. *Evaluates and introduces new IT operations, tools, and platforms to enhance performance and scalability.
 
Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO)
1. *Directs the enterprise project portfolio and ensures alignment with strategic IT and business goals.
2. *Establishes and maintains project management methodologies, standards, and governance.
3. *Prioritizes internal IT demand and manages cross-functional project teams.
4. *Provides oversight for project delivery staff and ensures consistent execution across initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Seven or more years of IT management experience in Application Development, Systems Engineering, Business Application Analysis, or Technology Services.
• Five or more years in supervisory roles with skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately;
• Ability to effectively supervise and develop assigned team to meet strategic goals;
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by senior management, customers, employees and/or public;
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills;
• Human relations skills to build effective relationships with team, customers and public;
• Exceptional customer service skills;
• Demonstrated expertise in enterprise productivity tools, including advanced proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet modeling, database management, presentation design, and virtual collaboration platforms, with the ability to leverage these tools for strategic planning, reporting, and executive communication.
• Strong command of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;
• Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations;
• Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business, operational and strategic management problems;
• Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelors Information Technology or related field
A comparable combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

Work is performed in a typical office/home office environment. Employees may be required to work in excess of 8 hours in a day and/or 40 hours per week.
