There are direct reports with this position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision the HVAC Assistant Manager oversees all HVAC and appliance repair at a federal installation in accordance with PRIDE’s contract. Employees in this job class are responsible for managing and organizing multiple projects related to HVAC repair and maintenance including indoor air quality. This job class requires extensive HVAC knowledge related to federal and state codes and laws.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Schedules and prioritizes tasks, and ensures adherence to procedures, regulations and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
2. *Creates material and labor estimates.
3. *Supervises staff; ensures a competent, motivated staff through hiring, training, counseling, supervising and reviewing the performance of employees.
4. *Serve as a technical resource to field personnel actively engaging in field activity.
5. *Develops professional working relationships with key contract personnel and establishes lines of communication.
6. *Assists in the development, implementation and management of a preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance program that includes predictive testing inspection of equipment and systems.
7. *Oversees quality control, inventory management, record keeping and management reporting.
8. *Reviews field personnel work in progress and completed work to ensure proper completion.
9. *Participates in departmental and other meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Three of more years of experience in HVAC/refrigeration equipment installation, repair and maintenance experience including at least one year in a supervisory role;
• Knowledge of basic and complex diagrams;
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC/refrigeration equipment;
• Skill in estimating time and materials;
• Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations regarding HVAC repair and maintenance for occupied spaces;
• Ability to communicate with OMD/CO/COR;
• Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately;
• Ability to effectively supervise and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules;
• Effective oral and written communication skills using appropriate business English;
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, common sense and problem solving skills;
• Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and customers;
• Effective customer service skills;
• Intermediate computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
• Knowledge of business English including vocabulary and spelling;
• Fundamental mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division;
• Ability to establish priorities and solve operational problems;
• Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
Technical/other training
CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:
The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:
EPA Certification
Fed Security Clearance
Valid Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
• Maneuvering to, in, and around equipment
• Bending, kneeling, stooping and reaching
• Climbing stepstools or ladders.
• Lifting and moving heavy equipment up to 35 pounds
• Climbing ladders to gain access to rooftop equipment
• Monitoring computer systems and control displays
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
