SUPERVISES: There are direct reports with this position.
 
POSITION SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision, the Fleet Senior Manager is responsible for leading national fleet operations within PRIDE, with a focus on compliance, safety, cost-efficiency, and performance. Employees in this job class are responsible for the full vehicle lifecycle—from acquisition through disposal—while driving strategic decisions that optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) and align with our organizational goals. This job class requires knowledge of vehicle procurement, maintenance programs, fuel management, fleet regulatory compliance, and the ability to lead operational excellence, regulatory adherence, and long-term fleet sustainability while collaborating with internal stakeholders across diverse departments and business lines.
 
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Manages the entire lifecycle of fleet vehicles and equipment, including procurement, operations, disposal, and decommissioning strategies.
2. *Creates and manages fleet budgets, capital expenditures, replacement schedules, and evaluates TCO to minimize cost and downtime.
3. *Leads, develops, and supports fleet team members to deliver high performance, meet departmental goals, and align fleet resources with operational needs.
4. *Analyzes fleet performance metrics, prepares reports for senior leadership, and recommends operational improvements.
5. *Ensures ongoing regulatory compliance with all DOT, CHP, and state-specific vehicle regulations, and maintains up-to-date registration and insurance for all vehicles.
6. *Oversees preventative maintenance schedules, fuel card programs, and supervises the use of fleet management software and transportation scheduling tools.
7. *Stays abreast of trends, best practices, and technologies for continuous improvement.
8. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Seven or more years in fleet management, including at least five years in a supervisory role.
• Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, address employee relations appropriately, and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including making presentations and responding to inquiries by senior management, customers, and employees.
• Proven experience managing a fleet of 500+ vehicles across multiple states.
• Strong understanding of DOT, CHP, and other federal/state transportation compliance standards.
• Demonstrated success with fleet budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Experience working with fleet leasing and fleet management companies.
• Experience with fleet management systems and vehicle tracking tools.
• Knowledge of government contracts, GFE (Government Furnished Equipment), and POV (Personally Owned Vehicles) requirements.
• Proficiency in total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis and lifecycle cost modeling.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, reasoning, problem-solving, and analytical skills, including the ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business, operational, and strategic management problems.
• Exceptional customer service and human relations skills to build effective relationships with team, customers, and the public.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and other fleet analytics tools.
• Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.
• Preferred experience with both commercial and municipal fleet operations.
• Preferred experience preparing fleet-related input for large commercial, municipal, or federal project bids.
 
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Business Administration or related field
A comparable combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED: The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:
Valid Driver's License
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
 
• Viewing computer screen/monitor
• Keyboarding
• Answering phone/making calls
• Occasional driving

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a normal office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise. Occasional travel is required. Employees may be required to work in excess of 8 hours in a day and/or 40 hours per week.
