Job: Equipment Technician

There are no direct reports with this position.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Under general supervision the Equipment Technician performs a variety of general mechanical, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and repair projects for PRIDE Industries facilities. This job class requires knowledge of mechanical, electrical, heating and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, general carpentry, and occupational safety (Cal OSHA and OSHA) regulations; and the ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.

 

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. *Performs a variety of general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing preventative maintenance, repairs, and new construction projects.
2. *Performs HVAC preventative maintenance.
3. *Repairs interior walls by demolition, installing new drywall, painting, and finish work.
4. *Purchases required supplies and materials to complete various construction, electrical, or plumbing projects.
5. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• One of more years of work experience in building maintenance;
• Knowledge of Cal OSHA and OSHA occupational safety regulations;
• Knowledge of and the proper use of specialized departmental equipment including that used in the trades of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general carpentry;
• Ability to read and understand construction, electrical, and equipment drawings and schematics;
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by management, team, vendors and/or customers;
• Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers;
• Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
• Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;
• Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations;
• Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business problems;
• Demonstrated customer service, common sense, problem solving and analytical skills;
• Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED

Technical/other training

 

 

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:

The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:

 

Valid Driver's License

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
 
• Maneuvering to and around equipment
• Standing and walking
• Bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching
• Climbing ladders
• Lifting of boxes or equipment up to 35 pounds

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily in the office. Employees may be required to work in confined spaces and may also be exposed to toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment and depending on the weather conditions; wind, rain cold and heat. Frequent travel is required.
