Job: Small Engine Mechanic

SUPERVISES:
There are no direct reports with this position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Small Engine Mechanic repairs gasoline and diesel engines used to power landscape equipment, compressors, generators, pumps, and similar machines in accordance with trade standards.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Repairs gasoline and diesel engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, weed whackers, chainsaws, blowers, chippers, edgers, snow removal equipment and similar tools/equipment.
2. *Uses hand tools, locates causes of trouble, dismantles engines, and inspects/examines parts for defects;
3. *Replaces or repairs parts, such as rings and bearings;
4. *Cleans and adjusts carburetors and magnetos, starts repaired engines and listens to sounds to test performance;
5. *Where required, occasionally performs maintenance welder job duties;
6. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Minimum one year related work experience, five years preferred
•Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
•Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and to respond to questions from vendors, customers and management
•Comply with PRIDE’s safety program and adhere to proper safety practices
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:
The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:
Valid Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
•Maneuvering in and around equipment
•Bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling
•Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds
•May be required to climb ladders and/or step stools
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
