Job:   Locksmith Supervisor

There are direct reports with this position.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under broad supervision, the Locksmith Supervisor plans, develops and implements all work efforts providing recurring, planned and preventive maintenance, area support structures, and rapid support response to service orders.   Employees in this job class are responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance programs as they relate to locks and key systems and are responsible for inventory of related materials.   This job class requires knowledge of locksmith shop operations, physical security and key control procedures.

 

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. *Assigns employees to tasks to be performed. Reviews work in progress and near completion for quality and standards.
2. *Investigates work related problems to identify causes, implements those corrective actions that can be taken.
3. *Supervises staff; ensures a competent, motivated staff through hiring, training, counseling, supervising and reviewing the performance of employees.
4. *Coordinates and supports customer requirements and or complaints pertaining to all lock shop functions.
5. *Establishes and maintains effective plans and procedures for resources utilization and work scheduling. Provides timely and accurate information regarding all shop functions to the appropriate Manager.
6. *Determines equipment, supplies and maintenance required and completes documents for procurement of supplies.
7. *Coordinates and schedules with other shops for multi-tasking.
8. *Maintains all physical security records, key control as per Army regulations.
9. Performs other duties and special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Three or more years of experience in the locksmith trade including one year in a supervisory role;
• Knowledge of locksmith shop operations;
• Supervisory skills to hire qualified employees, provide for their professional development, administer performance management and disciplinary processes effectively, and address employee relations appropriately;
• Ability to effectively supervise and develop assigned team to meet production/service goals while adhering to safety policies and rules;
• Effective oral and written communication skills using appropriate business English;
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, common sense and problem solving skills;
• Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and customers;
• Effective customer service skills;
• Intermediate computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
• Knowledge of business English including vocabulary and spelling;
• Fundamental mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division;
• Ability to establish priorities and solve operational problems;
• Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time.

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

High School Diploma or GED

Associates

 

 

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:

The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements.

 

Fed Security Clearance

Locksmith Certificate

Valid Driver's License

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

 

• Monitoring gauges, controls, and/or computer systems
• Lifting materials up to 35 pounds
• Bending and stooping
• Climbing ladders

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  
Work is performed at a customer’s location in an office/shop environment and on job sites in a construction environment with various tools and equipment.  Employees may be exposed to hazardous equipment, toxic substances, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
